About Holiday Compass

Holiday Compass was founded by travellers for travellers.

After having visited over 50 countries around the world we found ourselves often going back to the same place again and again. Sometimes it was because we just loved it, and sometimes it is because it felt like we had run out of ideas.

We then wanted to arrange a holiday with another couple but could not decide where.

We knew we wanted somewhere in Europe, that had a party atmosphere, some culture, and a foodie scene. But where? Our web searches didn't provide much of a result. Had we have had Holiday Compass the whole thing would have been much easier.

Annual holiday bookings with two young children then faced the same sort of challenges.

Where can we go that is sunny in December and as close to the United Kingdom as possible?

Where is a family friendly destination during the summer holidays that will keep the children entertained but provide some sort of chance for us to relax?

What months can you ski in New Zealand?

All the websites we found focused on trying to encourage you to visit a specific hotel. We felt that people look for their holidays a different way. Decide on the destination that they want to go to and then find the accommodation that suits them - at least we do!

Holiday Compass was created to help solve just that and more!

We have visited the vast majority of the destinations listed in our Collection. Where we have not been we have enlisted the insights of people who have.

The aim of the website is not to provide detailed descriptions of the destinations, or specific hotel and restaurant recommendations - there's already too much of that out there. Rather, it is to give you a sense of the destinations that might meet your needs.

You can then book and do further research about the destinations through other trusted websites.

In answer to the question we always get: where is our favourite destination?

Italy. Puglia to be precise! But let's try to keep that between us.
